Privacy Policy
Last updated 31 October 2026
The short version
- RigWorks Studio doesn't collect your name, your email address, your saves or your files.
- The app uses a random install ID so active users and unique installs can be counted, and you can turn this off in Settings.
- The website uses no cookies, advertising or analytics.
- Your data is never sold.
Who we are
RigWorks Studio is a fan-made tool for Euro Truck Simulator 2, created and run by Misterchamp. In this policy, "we" means the person running RigWorks Studio. You can contact us through the RigWorks Studio Discord server.
The app
What stays on your PC
Your saves, game files, projects, skins and settings stay on your computer. The app reads and edits them locally and doesn't upload them. Its log files are also kept on your PC, for up to 30 days.
Install notice
The first time the app starts, and the first time it starts after an update, it sends a notice to a private Discord channel. The notice contains:
- the app version, and the previous version if you updated
- your Windows version, or that the app is running on Linux through Wine
- your random install ID
Usage counting
While the app is open, it sends your random install ID to rigworks.app every 4 minutes. This is how the website counts people using the app right now, people active in the last 7 days, and unique installs.
The ID is created by the app and isn't based on your name, your hardware or your Steam account. Our server stores it only as a one-way hash, along with when it was first and last seen. It's kept in the app's settings.json file on your PC.
Your IP address reaches our server with each request. It's held in memory for up to an hour to limit spam and fake counts, and our counter doesn't write it to disk.
Other connections
- Updates: the app checks GitHub for new versions and downloads updates from there.
- Supporters Wall: the app downloads the list of supporters from GitHub.
- Discord Rich Presence: if Discord is running on your PC, the app tells it what you're working on, and people who can see your Discord status can see that too.
GitHub and Discord can see your IP address when your PC connects to them, as with any website.
The website
- Hosting: rigworks.app runs through Cloudflare, which handles traffic and protects the site. Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address to do this.
- Server logs: our web server may log standard details of each request, such as the page requested, the time and your browser type.
- GitHub: your browser connects to GitHub to get the latest version, the download link and the release notes.
- Downloads: the Download button takes the installer from GitHub.
- Cookies: the website doesn't set any cookies or use analytics or advertising trackers.
Links to Discord, GitHub and Buy Me a Coffee take you to those sites, and their own privacy policies apply there. Any payment through Buy Me a Coffee is handled by them, and we don't see your card details.
Why we use this data
We use this data because we have a legitimate interest in understanding how many people use the app, knowing which versions and systems to support, keeping the website secure and preventing abuse.
Who receives it
We use Cloudflare for the website, GitHub for downloads and updates, and Discord for install notices and community counts. These companies may process data outside the UK under their own safeguards. We don't sell your data or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Hashed install IDs: kept for as long as the counters run, because unique installs can't be counted without them.
- Install notices: kept in the Discord channel until they're deleted.
- IP addresses used for spam limits: up to an hour, in memory only.
Your choices and rights
You can turn off the install notice and usage counting at any time. In the app, open Settings and untick Share usage data under Privacy. It takes effect straight away and stays off after a restart.
The setting is on by default, so the first notice and heartbeat are sent when the app first starts, before you've had the chance to change it. Turning it off doesn't delete what we already hold, but you can ask us to do that.
The setting doesn't affect update checks, the Supporters Wall or Discord Rich Presence. These work as described above.
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, through our Discord server. To find your records, we'll need the install ID from your settings.json file. You can also object to our use of your data.
If you're in the UK and unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
RigWorks Studio is suitable for all ages and never asks for personal details. It does send the install ID and version details described above. If you're under 13, ask a parent or guardian before using the app. They can turn off Share usage data in Settings, or contact us to have any data deleted.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
